PROESA presented in Mexico investment and trade opportunities

 The President of the Export and Investment Promotion Agency of El Salvador (PROESA), Sigfrido Reyes, announced different investment projects offered by El Salvador during the Business Opportunities and Investment Forum in El Salvador, which took place In Mexico City.


Throughout the forum, El Salvador was presented to 35 embassies accredited in Mexico City,  including nations like Australia, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, Slovakia and South Africa, as an important destination for doing business.


"This event will provide information on El Salvador to the representatives of the participating embassies and potential investors in order to generate business contacts and awaken interest in the different opportunities to invest in El Salvador," Reyes said.


The participation of PROESA is a part of the strategy of investments attraction promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador, through its program of Economic and Commercial Counseling (CECT).


PROESA will also hold meetings with representatives of PROMÉXICO in order to learn about the experience of this agency in the monitoring and follow-up of its offices around the world. PROMÉXICO is the Mexican federal government institution which is responsible for coordinating strategies aimed at strengthening Mexico's participation in the international economy.


In addition, the activities will be an approach to potential investors interested in developing investments in El Salvador in the short term.


The president of PROESA will also participate in the second part of the Business Opportunities and Investment in El Salvador Forum, which will be attended by about 100 Mexican entrepreneurs in the sectors of infrastructure, tourism, food, beverages, aeronautics, textiles and energy.


The event, to be held in coordination with the Mexican Council of Foreign Trade (COMCE) on April 28, will address issues, such as the use of El Salvador - Mexico Free Trade Agreement and investment opportunities in different sectors of the Salvadoran economy.  Mexican Project investment in El Salvador worth US $ 885.3 million at the end of 2016, which is concentrated in the communications, trade and financial activities sectors.


Exports from El Salvador to Mexico amounted USD 68 million during 2016, mainly in textiles and clothing, plastics, leather, and food and beverages.
