Government of El Salvador inaugurates infrastructure projects in Surf City

Projects valued at more than $9 million were inaugurated today by representatives of the government of El Salvador at the facilities of the Malecón Turístico at Puerto de La Libertad. These include the transformation of the handicraft dock and the amphitheater, new gastronomy areas, a crosswalk and the construction of the new Mercado del Mar.


This last project is a modern infrastructure, representing $5 million, which shelters boat cooperatives, seafood salespeople located before on the handicraft dock, and more than 43 gastronomy business.


"I invite Salvadorans abroad and foreign tourists to come to El Salvador and visit our beaches. With the Surf City project that president Nayib Bukele is promoting, today we are a reference in tourism around the world”, president of the Export and Investment Promotion Agency of El Salvador (known as PROESA), Salvador Gómez Góchez, said, while was participating in the opening ceremony.


On the other hand, the minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, said that "we are working to create a gap of economic development and employment generation, through a leap in quality of tourism infrastructure; Salvadoran people deserves modern and accessible tourism spaces”.


The projects, which seek to guarantee the public access to the beaches, began in February, with 1,200 meters of seafront, new restaurant areas with lookout platforms, and recreational areas. These will be extended throughout 2020.
