The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in partnership with the Export and Investment Promotion Agency of El Salvador (PROESA) launched an initiative to promote Salvadoran exports through virtual business rounds with companies from Honduras and Guatemala.   From August 11 to 21, 2020, 24 Salvadoran companies from the food and beverage, manufacturing, and agribusiness sectors will participate in a series of virtual business rounds with buyers from Honduras and Guatemala, under the guidance of PROESA. This event will facilitate commercial activities with potential buyers and allow Salvadoran companies to find new business opportunities and close sales in these regional markets.   Due to the recent COVID-19 crisis, companies have been forced to temporarily close or adjust their services to the context of confinement and quarantine, so USAID and PROESA are developing this activity in order to promote exports and sales of Salvadoran products through innovation, promotion and the use of technological platforms.   PROESA expects to have at least 40 purchasing companies from Guatemala and the same number from Honduras. These are the provisions of the Government of El Salvador to contain the COVID-19 pandemic so far, as determined by the president of the Republic, Nayib Bukele:   1. The Expanded Health Cabinet was activated, with daily meetings and monitoring to analyze the situation and take appropriate actions.   2. Since January, concrete actions have been initiated, such as sanitization of the International Airport, and the installation of thermographic cameras at the different borders of the country.   3. The free entry of foreigners is gradually being restricted until it is determined that none may enter to El Salvador by any means.   4. Salvadorans residents and diplomats entering the country will be subject to a 30-day quarantine without exceptions or privileges. Any person, Salvadoran or foreign, who attempts to enter the country through blind spots will be arrested.   5. Classes, workshops and diploma courses at all levels, in both the public and private sectors, have been suspended until 13th April or until new notification.   6. Public performances and sporting events have been suspended until new notification.   7. Outpatient care in all 31 national hospitals and all health units is suspended until new notification.   8. The Export and Investment Promotion Agency of El Salvador (known as PROESA), in view of the measures decreed yesterday by the president of the Republic, Nayib Bukele, within the framework of the national emergency for the COVID-19 pandemic, informs our staff and general public that:   - From now on, we will be implementing the off-site work mode exclusively for all employees aged 60 and over, and for pregnant women, so they must stay in their homes until new notification, and perform their duties from their place of residence.   - All other employees will work normally, on the established schedules, reminding them that must continue to comply the exceptional prevention measures.   PROESA is committed to protecting the health and lives of its workers.      San Salvador, March 16th, 2020     
The Export and Investment Promotion Agency of El Salvador (known as PROESA) informs to the community that the public activities planned to be carried out by the institution are suspended until new notification.   This is in response to the declaration of a nationwide red alert issued today by the president of the Republic, Nayib Bukele, as a measure to safeguard the population from the threat of the COVID 19 virus.   All public activities scheduled by the directions in charge of Exports, Investments, Public-Private Partnerships and other operational areas of the institution are suspended.   As an institution of the Government of El Salvador, we encourage the population to keep calm, to inform yourself through official media and take into account the stipulated preventive measures.   PROESA is committed to the development of keeping an atmosphere of economic, political and social security that seeks the well-being of citizens.    March 13th, 2020   
The celebration of the 59th edition of the National Student Sport Games was announced yesterday with a conference given by the National Sports Institute (known as INDES) and the Ministry of Education (known as MINED). The event was attended by the president of the Export and Investment Promotion Agency of El Salvador (known as PROESA), Salvador Gómez Góchez.   Thousands of student athletes are expected to take part in the days of competition to be held within the framework of these games.   The president of INDES, Yamil Bukele, gave the details of the competitions, the budget and the entertainment options to the audience.   "I congratulate the Ministry of Education and INDES for supporting the Salvadoran youth through sport and all the initiatives that president Nayib Bukele promotes for the benefit of our young people. Projects valued at more than $9 million were inaugurated today by representatives of the government of El Salvador at the facilities of the Malecón Turístico at Puerto de La Libertad. These include the transformation of the handicraft dock and the amphitheater, new gastronomy areas, a crosswalk and the construction of the new Mercado del Mar.   This last project is a modern infrastructure, representing $5 million, which shelters boat cooperatives, seafood salespeople located before on the handicraft dock, and more than 43 gastronomy business.   "I invite Salvadorans abroad and foreign tourists to come to El Salvador and visit our beaches. The Government of El Salvador carried out the firm of the Legal Stability Contract between the Ministry of Economy (known as MINEC) and Sonsonate Solar company. Last week, the president of the Export and Investment Promotion Agency of El Salvador (known as PROESA) Salvador Gómez Góchez, visited Mall del Sol. This project under construction is developed by a Salvadoran abroad (SALEX) resident in Los Angeles, California.
